Bullying Programmes
Bullying is a universal issue that touches almost everyone at one time or another regardless of age, gender, race, religion or socio-economic status. Bullying is not only a "school" issue, bullying is a broader community health and wellness issue. The effects of bullying can last a lifetime. Bullying also has economic costs associated with decreased productivity, lost man-hours, absenteeism, workplace aggression, harassment and intimidation.
Employees shouldn't be afraid to go to work; children shouldn’t fear going to school; and parents shouldn't have to fear sending their children to school.
The good news is that prevention of bullying through education and awareness is possible and that all of us can play a role. We need to understand the issue of bullying more deeply. We need to learn about what the world's best research is telling us. We need to be aware of practical approaches, policies, programs and resources that are effective.
At Crux Australis we have applied our evidence based training methodologies to the issues surrounding bullying for both children and adults.
Our anti-bullying programmes come in a variety of shapes and sizes ranging from 90 minute ‘awareness’ style training to training for employers and HR managers to fully interactive scenario based training to develop assertive communication skills and help to break the bullying cycle.
This training is contextualised to the age specific demographic and can include the relevant workplace policies and legislation.
Topics can include:
- defining bullying
- cyber bullying & social networking;
- workplace bullying & EEO legislation;
- recognising the danger signs of a bullied child;
- dealing with the underlying causes of bullying;
- encouraging bystanders to assist;
- enabling children to control their anger;
- developing empathy;
- developing assertive communications skills;
- breaking the bullying cycle; and
- self defence skills.
